We’re excited to share this high-altitude washed microlot from Ismeria Leon, a woman producer and member of the Aromas del Valle co-operative in northern Peru. Grown on her 2-hectare farm, La Lucuma, in Santa Teresa, Callayuc, this coffee benefits from exceptional growing conditions at 2,250 metres above sea level, where cool temperatures and abundant sunshine contribute to outstanding cup clarity and complexity.
This lot combines a traditional washed profile with extended anaerobic fermentation, adding depth and structure while preserving the bright, elegant character typical of high-grown Peruvian coffees.

The story:
Ismeria began growing coffee in 2015 after recognising the unique potential of her land in the high mountains of Cajamarca. Working alongside her sister Merly, she is driven by curiosity and a desire to continually improve quality on the farm. Her approach is hands-on and thoughtful, shaped by close attention to the land, her plants, and the rhythms of the harvest.
The process:
Ripe cherries are carefully selected and floated before undergoing a 48-hour anaerobic fermentation. After pulping, the coffee is fermented again for approximately 42 hours, then fully washed and dried slowly on raised African beds over 17–18 days. Supported by fermentation training from the Aromas del Valle co-operative, this meticulous process results in a clean, structured, and expressive cup.
